The three-day Vladimir Salnikov Cup has come to an end in St. Petersburg. "Silver Sharks" were won by Kliment Kolesnikov and Evgenia Chikunova. 41 sets of awards were awarded, three world youth records, five new Russian youth records and one Vladimir Salnikov Cup record were set.

Kliment Kolesnikov showed the best result in World Aquatics points among men. Yevgenia Chikunova had no equal in points for women. The athletes were awarded the Grand Prix of the tournament-the "silver sharks".

Kliment Kolesnikov won the most medals at the Vladimir Salnikov Cup distances – three gold and one silver. Moreover, Kliment became a co-author of one more (or rather even two) swim - a super sprint on 25m freestyle. The idea to hold this short, but so far unofficial swim, was supported by Vladimir Salnikov. The men's super-sprint was won by... Kliment Kolesnikov. But not alone, but with Daniil Markin-both showed the same result of 9.7 seconds. Among the girls, Alina Gayfutdinova was the fastest in the super sprint.

Our juniors showed fantastic results on the tracks of the Vladimir Salnikov Cup. The Russian men's team consisting of Yegor Proshin, Gleb Timofeev, Roman Zhidkov and Ilya Zakharikov twice in a day rewrote the junior world record in the combined 4x50m relay. First in the preliminary heat, and then in the difficult conditions of the final. On the second day of the competition, Alexander Nazarenko, Roman Zhidkov, Vyacheslav Zuev and Ilya Zakharikov finished with a junior world record in the men's 4x50m freestyle relay.

Five new Russian junior records were set during the Vladimir Salnikov Cup-2024: Alexander Nazarenko in the 50m butterfly, Milana Stepanova in the 200m backstroke, Alexandra Kuznetsova in the 100m freestyle, Sofia Dyakova in the 400m freestyle and Maria Osetrova in the 50m backstroke.

The New Year's atmosphere was created not only by the organizers, but also by the athletes themselves, who came out to the starting bollards either in carnival costumes, or with noses and other festive attributes. Most of all the audience remembered the images of Maleficent and Batman.
